Build It, Then Watch It Move: A Vehicle Customization Microsite For Alfa Romeo

Incredible Visibility developed a vehicle customization microsite for Alfa Romeo. Customers chose their model, engine, color, and accessories, then watched a custom 360-degree video of the car they had just designed.

Overview

Alfa Romeo is an Italian premium car manufacturer known for distinctive design, engine performance, and more than a century of heritage, including a long motorsport record. For the brand, driving is about passion as much as transport.

Alfa Romeo approached Incredible Visibility to build a microsite where customers could design their own car. The goal was simple: let buyers move from browsing to imagining ownership, in an experience that felt as refined as the vehicles themselves.

We designed and developed a focused, visually rich configurator. It guided customers through each choice and ended with a personalized 360-degree video of their Alfa Romeo.

The Challenge

Buying a premium car is an emotional decision. Static photos and spec sheets rarely capture what makes an Alfa Romeo special, and complex configurators can turn excitement into frustration.

The microsite had to:

  • Let customers combine model, engine, color, and accessories without confusion
  • Match the visual standard of a premium Italian design brand
  • Reward each choice with a satisfying, cinematic result rather than a flat image
  • Show the finished car from every angle, so customers could see exactly what they built
  • Run smoothly in the browser on standard web technologies, with no plugins or downloads

Our Approach

We treated the configurator as a short story with a payoff: each choice builds toward the moment the customer sees their own car in motion.

  1. A Clear, Step-By-Step Flow We broke configuration into simple stages: choose the car, choose the engine, pick a color, then add accessories. Each step shows only the options that matter at that moment.
  2. Let The Product Lead Large vehicle imagery and a restrained interface keep attention on the car. The design follows Alfa Romeo's visual language instead of competing with it.
  3. A Cinematic Reveal Instead of ending on a static image, the experience ends with a custom 360-degree video of the configured car, turning a form into a moment of ownership.
  4. Lightweight, Standards-Based Build We built with HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, so the microsite ran directly in the browser and loaded quickly without extra software.

What We Built

Model & Engine Selection

The entry point of the configurator. Customers chose their Alfa Romeo model and engine, setting the base for every option that followed.

Color Customization

A color selection stage that let customers see their chosen exterior finish applied to the vehicle.

Accessory Configuration

Customers personalized design details, including tail lamps, headlights, and grilles, to make the car their own.

Personalized 360-Degree Video

Once the configuration was complete, the microsite displayed a custom video matched to the customer's choices, giving a full 360-degree view of their personalized Alfa Romeo.

Premium Front-End Experience

A visually striking, simple, and user-friendly interface built in HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, designed to reflect the brand's premium positioning.

The Impact

The microsite gave Alfa Romeo customers a direct, engaging way to explore the range and picture themselves behind the wheel.

  • A complete configurator covering model, engine, color, and accessories
  • A personalized 360-degree video for each completed configuration
  • An interface that matched the brand's premium design standards
  • A lightweight browser experience built on open web standards

The project showed how interactive, video-led experiences can turn a product catalog into a personal moment for the buyer.

Project Engagement

This was a defined, project-based engagement. Incredible Visibility delivered the vehicle customization microsite to Alfa Romeo's brief, from interface design to front-end development and video integration.

Industry Relevance

Automotive, luxury, and high-consideration brands sell on emotion as much as specification. This project shows how we turn a product range into an interactive experience: guided choices, strong visuals, and a personalized payoff. The same approach applies to product configurators, furniture and interiors, consumer electronics, fashion, and any brand where customers want to see their version before they buy.
